FACTS ABOUT ...
Water Heating & Energy

  • It is estimated that 7.3 million traditional tank based water heaters are dis-posed into landfills each year in the US. Keys to preventing the production of waster are the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
REDUCE

  • The most effective way to decrease waste is to prevent it in the first place. Purchasing durable, long lasting products is a means of waste prevention.
  • The average tank water heater has a life span of 8-10 years. A tankless water heater can last 2-3 times as long.
REUSE

  • Reusing a product may actually be more beneficial than recycling, because it doesn’t require any reprocessing before if can be used again.
  • Some tankless water heaters are made entirely of parts that can be replaced if they are damaged.
  • A tank water heater normally requires purchasing a new unit if something mal-functions or becomes damaged.
RECYCLE

  • Recycling turns materials that would otherwise turn to waste, into valuable re-sources.
  • Some tankless water heaters have their key components made of recycled material, which means that their will be a significant decrease in waster materials.
ENERGY USE

  • Currently the US is the worlds largest energy consumer, and for that reason is the largest source of global warming pollution.
  • The US emits more CO2 than China, India & Japan combined.
  • 25% of the CO2 pollution produced by the US comes from fossil fuel burning
  • By switching to energy efficient appliances and equipment we can reduce the demand for electricity and cut CO2 pollution from power plants.
SOLUTIONS

  • Switching to a tankless water heater can help reduce energy consumption by 20 to 30% over a regular water heater because it eliminated stand by heating
  • Some tankless water heaters have efficiencies that range from 83-93%.
  • These units are able to reduce over 700 lbs of CO2 per year
  • This reduction compared to a tanked water heater greatly reduces the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere and greatly reduces the effects of global warming.
